About Oasis

Oasis for the Visually Impaired was founded by Orland Park residents Kim and Joe Kuster on April 4, 1996. The couple live with extreme low vision and blindness. They always had an unending passion to assist others by helping them discover there is so much more to life. The Kusters have since retired, but their legacy of love, hope and inspiration lives on. Over the years, OASIS has grown to two locations to support visually impaired members in both Cook County and Will County.

OASIS provides education and resources regarding adaptive skills which are necessary for independence and low-vision devices that play a major role in the areas of personal and vocational needs. All help to enhance the activities of daily living.

By attending OASIS support group sessions, those who have recently become visually impaired or are living with blindness can gain newfound hope as they discover they are not alone. They can experience the support of other members with similar sight loss who have a positive outlook on life.

Our Facilitator and team of Board members work together to make sure each member has a wonderful and beneficial experience.
